After several falls, the resident was taken to the emergency room, where she was found to be chronically dehydrated and underweight. The resident died in hospice a short time later. Good Shepherd maintained that the resident had received proper care throughout her stay. A Cerro Gordo County jury reached a $900,000 verdict against Good Shepherd nursing facility for pain and suffering of the resident and for punitive damages.
